First time at the beach!

Because the weather is so good at the moment (even that cloud cover in the background has lifted now), we brought the wee man to the beach on Sunday along with Aoibhin and Eoghan. Although the water didn't go down to well (lots of shivering and crying), the sand was a big hit. Every time I turned my back for 2 seconds he had a fistful of it in his mouth. Delicious! Posted by Picasa

Balls..

Here's Emmett playing in a ball pit. He seemed to have a grand old time of it. He kept trying to pull little girl's hair. Flirt. Posted by Picasa

Birthday boy at the zoo!

 Posted by Picasa

We're going to the zoo, zoo, zoo

How about you, you, you?

We spent Emmett's actual birthday (Monday) en route to Dublin and we went to the zoo that afternoon. He loved it! This picture is him goading a rhinocerous. He was just fascinated by all the animals. The major winners were the rhinos, the tigers and the monkeys. We had a brilliant day. We went to visit Granda DM afterwards. Emmett was just thrilled by all the attention (not to mention Cassie and Nacho, the doggies).

Stephen and I took the week off and spent it pottering about the house and bringing him for spins - such fun!! I could get used to it, except for the fact that it is back to work tomorrow. Ah well! We'll have to do this again some time soon! Posted by Picasa

Birthday Boy!!

Time has annoying habit of flying by when you don't want it to. I can't believe my baby boy's first birthday has come and gone. He's one. One. That is so old. In the beginning, you count their age in days. Soon enough, its weeks. Then you lose count of weeks and it turns to months. Now it is years. Soon it'll be decades and he'll be in his forties. Its not that I don't want to see him growing up, but its a very bittersweet thing. Yay, he's one, but oh no!!! My baby is growing up! He's not going to need me anymore! He's so independant and big!

Enough feeling sorry for myself. The birthday. We planned a barbeque, and lucky enough the weather held. We actually ended up with two barbeques - Granny DM and Auntie Siobhán were coming down for the weekend, but wouldn't make it down til Saturday evening, and Niall and Bríd were down too, but they were to go back to Galway early on the Sunday, so we had to have two parties. In the end, Niall and Bríd hung around for the second one too, but what harm, I love barbequed food!

I think the man of the moment enjoyed himself - loved his presents (he's in his ball pit in the picture above). The only one he didn't like was the tumble time tigger we bought him. He loves the box it came in, he doesn't mind it when it standing still, but if you set Tigger going with his cartwheels and talking, poor Emmett literally shakes with fear. He's horrified by it. Win some, lose some. Posted by Picasa
