Yet another dude in a red suit, this time in Santatown, Riverstown. Emmett acted the complete maggot the whole way through, but he did get to see bear in the big blue house, which was probably the highlight of his life so far.
This blog is to keep those who don't get to see him often enough up to date on Emmett's continued rise to stardom.
Sure why wouldn't you want to be Santa when you grow up? Work one day a year, your work is always appreciated, no crabby customers, an army of little people at your beck and call, practically encouraged to overeat and gain a jelly belly, and a snazzy velour suit? Hell, I'd be Santa if I could get away with it.
... Emmett is a big silly moo.
Emmett's delightful curls are no more! Stephen said that if I didn't cut his hair soon, he'd do it. So rather than let Stephen get chop happy with him, I balded the little fella last night. He sat in the high chair with Stephen distracting him (ice-cream) while I snipped rings round him. He now looks like a right man instead of a baby. Actually, he looks even more like Grandad Colreavy, because he has that funny, flat shape to the back of his head. Lucky guy.
Because the weather is so good at the moment (even that cloud cover in the background has lifted now), we brought the wee man to the beach on Sunday along with Aoibhin and Eoghan. Although the water didn't go down to well (lots of shivering and crying), the sand was a big hit. Every time I turned my back for 2 seconds he had a fistful of it in his mouth. Delicious!
How about you, you, you?
Time has annoying habit of flying by when you don't want it to. I can't believe my baby boy's first birthday has come and gone. He's one. One. That is so old. In the beginning, you count their age in days. Soon enough, its weeks. Then you lose count of weeks and it turns to months. Now it is years. Soon it'll be decades and he'll be in his forties. Its not that I don't want to see him growing up, but its a very bittersweet thing. Yay, he's one, but oh no!!! My baby is growing up! He's not going to need me anymore! He's so independant and big!
