Santatown

Yet another dude in a red suit, this time in Santatown, Riverstown. Emmett acted the complete maggot the whole way through, but he did get to see bear in the big blue house, which was probably the highlight of his life so far. Posted by Picasa

Check this guy out!

The faces on Emmett and Aoibhín, they don't know what to make of this dude with the hat. Posted by Picasa

Santa-in-training

Sure why wouldn't you want to be Santa when you grow up? Work one day a year, your work is always appreciated, no crabby customers, an army of little people at your beck and call, practically encouraged to overeat and gain a jelly belly, and a snazzy velour suit? Hell, I'd be Santa if I could get away with it. Posted by Picasa

The Hallowe'enies

Here's Eoghan, Emmett and Aoibhín in their Hallowe'en finery. Eoghan was a bat, Emmett was a turtle, and Aoibhín was the nicest duck I've ever seen. Great babies!! Posted by Picasa

Stephen's painting

Photoshop is such a powerful tool! This is the picture Stephen painted in it of Emmett - holy crapola, that is realistic stuff... I wish I could do stuff, he's just so talented.. But hey, I do make a really good baby... Actually, now that I think of it, that's probably thanks to him, too.. Posted by Picasa

Army of Tiggers

You'd never guess who Emmett's favourite character is. Ah go on, try... I'll give you three guesses.. Here he is commanding his mighty army of tiggers (truth be told, there's way more, these are just the moving/talking ones)... what a spoiled man! Posted by Picasa

Emmett watching The Daily News

Emmett has a new favourite program - the daily news on 3dbuzz.com... This is what happens when two computer nerds procreate - the offspring takes a very early liking for all things technical. That's my boy, a man of impeccable taste! Posted by Picasa

Bouncy, bouncy, bouncy boo...

... Emmett is a big silly moo.

The man himself is getting back to top form after a bad old time of it for the last few weeks. Here he is bouncing the day away at the birthday party of a neighbour. He just loved the bouncing castle, I had a hard time getting him away from it.

Which reminds me... we have a new webpage. I'll be keeping up the blog, of course, but Dillon-Malone.com is up and running. Some funny jokes, cool links etc. there. We have also set up a forum for posting jokes, polls, comments, general conversation, etc. Come on over and say hello!! Posted by Picasa

Baldy Gillespie

Emmett's delightful curls are no more! Stephen said that if I didn't cut his hair soon, he'd do it. So rather than let Stephen get chop happy with him, I balded the little fella last night. He sat in the high chair with Stephen distracting him (ice-cream) while I snipped rings round him. He now looks like a right man instead of a baby. Actually, he looks even more like Grandad Colreavy, because he has that funny, flat shape to the back of his head. Lucky guy.

He's also teething really hard for the last couple of weeks. His gums at the back, top and bottom, look to be all swollen and sore. Only one of the back teeth has actually come through with all the pain. He STILL doesn't have the two that go either side of the bottom two teeth either. Sure why do things in the right order? Anyway, along with the teething, his skin has gone to pot again. He gets dry patches to either side of his mouth. They must be very itchy, because he spends most of his time rubbing his face into things and clawing at his mouth. End result is one red, raw, bleeding mess. Poor little man looks terrible! Posted by Picasa

First time at the beach!

Because the weather is so good at the moment (even that cloud cover in the background has lifted now), we brought the wee man to the beach on Sunday along with Aoibhin and Eoghan. Although the water didn't go down to well (lots of shivering and crying), the sand was a big hit. Every time I turned my back for 2 seconds he had a fistful of it in his mouth. Delicious! Posted by Picasa

Balls..

Here's Emmett playing in a ball pit. He seemed to have a grand old time of it. He kept trying to pull little girl's hair. Flirt. Posted by Picasa

Birthday boy at the zoo!

 Posted by Picasa

We're going to the zoo, zoo, zoo

How about you, you, you?

We spent Emmett's actual birthday (Monday) en route to Dublin and we went to the zoo that afternoon. He loved it! This picture is him goading a rhinocerous. He was just fascinated by all the animals. The major winners were the rhinos, the tigers and the monkeys. We had a brilliant day. We went to visit Granda DM afterwards. Emmett was just thrilled by all the attention (not to mention Cassie and Nacho, the doggies).

Stephen and I took the week off and spent it pottering about the house and bringing him for spins - such fun!! I could get used to it, except for the fact that it is back to work tomorrow. Ah well! We'll have to do this again some time soon! Posted by Picasa

Birthday Boy!!

Time has annoying habit of flying by when you don't want it to. I can't believe my baby boy's first birthday has come and gone. He's one. One. That is so old. In the beginning, you count their age in days. Soon enough, its weeks. Then you lose count of weeks and it turns to months. Now it is years. Soon it'll be decades and he'll be in his forties. Its not that I don't want to see him growing up, but its a very bittersweet thing. Yay, he's one, but oh no!!! My baby is growing up! He's not going to need me anymore! He's so independant and big!

Enough feeling sorry for myself. The birthday. We planned a barbeque, and lucky enough the weather held. We actually ended up with two barbeques - Granny DM and Auntie Siobhán were coming down for the weekend, but wouldn't make it down til Saturday evening, and Niall and Bríd were down too, but they were to go back to Galway early on the Sunday, so we had to have two parties. In the end, Niall and Bríd hung around for the second one too, but what harm, I love barbequed food!

I think the man of the moment enjoyed himself - loved his presents (he's in his ball pit in the picture above). The only one he didn't like was the tumble time tigger we bought him. He loves the box it came in, he doesn't mind it when it standing still, but if you set Tigger going with his cartwheels and talking, poor Emmett literally shakes with fear. He's horrified by it. Win some, lose some. Posted by Picasa

Cool dude

Emmett decided Daddy's new sunglasses look better on him. Posted by Picasa

Did I mention he walked??

Just over two weeks ago, while I was doing overtime on a Saturday. Nice. I missed it. Anyway, you can't stop him now, he's running around everywhere. He's really steady. Here he is bringing Daisy, his four legged cow, for a walk. He's totally zonked on the floor at the moment, though! Posted by Picasa
